The armed man, who’s in his 60s, was pacing backward and forwards on First Avenue between East 42nd and 45th road on Thursday morning.

The person, armed with a shotgun, is believed to be suicidal, per the New York Metropolis Police Department.
Video from the scene confirmed heavy police presence because the white male with gray hair, sporting a red sweater and olive jacket, is seen pacing back and forth at the entrance of the federal government building.
NYPD officers may be heard telling the suspect to “put the firearm down.”
Images from the scene present the person with the shotgun to his chin and throat area as he paces around.
The incident has sparked a stand-off between cops and the suspect.
Footage posted on Twitter confirmed NYPD officers aiming their guns at the unknown individual.

The United Nations facility reopened their building for pedestrian exit and entrance on the forty-sixth Avenue gate and vehicular entry at forty-second Avenue.
The update got here an hour after the government building was positioned on lockdown, and employees have been requested to shelter in place.
Shortly after noon, an armored emergency providers unit car was seen outside the government facility.
The NYPD is asking folks to keep away from the world as traffic has backed up along the FDR Drive.
The UN facility is situated within the Murry Hill part of Manhattan.
The complicated has served because the official headquarters of the United Nations since its completion in 1951.
