Maloney passed away. He was 71. Cowboy Maloney’s spokeswoman said he died at a hospital on Wednesday after a brief illness caused by a lung problem.
Maloney was the owner of Jackson’s Cowboy Maloney’s Electric City. The Mississippi-based company operates appliance, furniture, and audio/visual businesses.
According to his family, Maloney was a former president of the Ole Miss Alumni Association, former chairman of the Metro Jackson Chamber of Commerce, and president of the Jackson Prep school board.
Maloney, his brothers, and his family members became well-known after appearing in commercials for their father, James C. “Cowboy” Maloney, who founded Cowboy Maloney’s in the 1950s.
“You had Con, Bridget, Eddie, and myself, and now there’s a hole in our heart with Eddie being gone,” said Johnny Maloney, Eddie’s brother.
Cowboy Maloney created history as television and technology transformed under Eddie Maloney’s guidance.
“We sold the first DIRECTV system ever sold in the world. We sold the first Sirius satellite radio and the first Dish Net system, which is internet through satellite,” Johnny Maloney said.
Funeral plans have yet to be announced.
